General Information

  • Specialties, Group Shows, and Supported Entries held with RCC

The Rose City Classic is recognized as one of America’s biggest and best dog show events in the nation. That’s why so many of the best dogs in America and even dogs from foreign countries travel to Portland each January to compete.

The Rose City Classic is typically held on the third weekend of January. About a week before the show date, the judging schedule for each breed and event will be available and posted online in the menu bar to the right.

For information about the shows and trials hosted by Dog Fanciers Association of Oregon on Friday and Saturday, or by the Tualatin Kennel Club on Thursday and Sunday, see the premium list posted in the menu bar, or contact their show chairs, Larry Brutonfor DFAO orDianne Kroll for Tualatin. For information about the specialties (individual breed shows) on Wednesday, contact specialty coordinator, Patti Strand. The clubs of the Rose City Classic Series of Dog Shows appreciate the support from Purina, the exclusive pet food supporter of the Rose City Classic. We could not host such great shows without their backing.

Dog Fanciers Association of Oregon (DFAO) is the host club of the Rose City Classic Series of Dog Shows. It was founded in 1939 and is a member club of the American Kennel Club (AKC). DFAO is an all-breed kennel club offering competition for all AKC recognized breeds in conformation, obedience, and agility. DFAO also provides public education and community services. DFAO is centered in Multnomah County.

Tualatin Kennel Club is the partner all-breed club that makes up the Rose City Classic. It is also a member club of the AKC. TKC hosts events for conformation, obedience and agility and provides numerous community services. Its membership is centered in the Tualatin Valley and Washington County.
